GUILD MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to unite serving, commissioned and retired Conductors in fellowship, preserve the legacy of Honourable and Ancient Appointment of Conductor, and strengthen our community through leadership, volunteerism, and mutual support.

WHAT MAKES OUR GUILD UNIQUE

Strength. Honour. Unity.

Historic and Distinguished Appointment

  • The appointment of Conductor dates back to the early 1300s, first mentioned in the Statute of Westminster with duties like guiding troops in times of conflict.
  • Over centuries it evolved into a highly respected logistics role, responsible for ensuring supply and support systems within the army.
  • Today, it remains the most senior non-commissioned appointments for a Warrant Officer Class 1 in the British Army, with only a small number (often capped at around eight or nine at any time).

Exclusive
and Prestigious

  • Selection for this appointment is strict and competitive, candidates must be experienced senior warrant officers with exemplary records.
  • Those chosen receive the historic “Conductor’s Parchment” in a formal ceremony, honouring their service, leadership, and commitment to military logistics and the wider Army.
  • There’s also a recognition called the Conductors’ Coin awarded to serving Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) soldiers for excellence above and beyond normal duties.
  • There’s also the Conductor Cup, presented to the best RLC recruit following successful military Phase 1 training at The Army Foundation College, Harrogate and a further cup presented at the RLC Annual Awards Event.

A Unique
Professional Network

  • While it isn’t a guild in the civilian sense of a professional association, those appointed form a distinctive community within the military, referred to as the Conductors’ Guild, preserving traditions, sharing experience, and representing the highest standards.
  •  This network blends historic honour with modern professionalism, connecting experienced leaders in army logistics and support systems.

What Sets
It Apart

  • Ancient lineage: one of the longest-standing warrant-officer appointments in the British Army.
  • Very limited membership: open only to those who have served as a Conductor.
  • Ceremonial recognition: distinctive Parchment Ceremony with Royal attendance.
